About the Campaign Creator:
Anayochukwu Chibuike Ngene is a Graduate Assistant lecturer in the Department of Microbiology at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Nigeria. He holds an M.Sc. degree in Microbial Biotechnology from the University of Jos. Prior to that, he obtained a B.Sc. degree with First-Class honors in Microbiology from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike. He also holds a National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology from Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Nigeria.
Anayochukwu Chibuike Ngene is an active member of the Nigerian Society for Microbiology (NSM) and the Africa Phage Forum (APF).
Anayochukwu's interest in investigating alternative treatments to combat antibiotic resistance is motivated by the rising prevalence of antibiotic-resistant infections in West Africa, including pneumonia, tuberculosis, blood poisoning, gonorrhoea, meningitis, urinary tract infections, diarrhoea, and foodborne illnesses. Before we approach a post-antibiotic era, where previously treatable infections and small wounds could once more become life-threatening, he understands the urgent need to solve this issue. His interest has been drawn to bacteriophage therapy as a viable remedy for this urgent issue.
